Jean Lee Jia Ying

Jean’s main areas of practice include corporate commercial, mergers and acquisitions, foreign direct investments, regulatory compliance, private equity and general legal advisory. She assists in various corporate matters by conducting legal due diligence exercises, drafting and reviewing contracts and other transaction documents, advising clients on their legal queries, and handling closing and post-closing matters for M&A transactions.

Jean joined Zaid Ibrahim & Co as a Trainee Associate in 2021 and was subsequently retained as an Associate upon completion of her pupillage.

Some of her key engagements:

• Acted for DRB-HICOM Berhad in a joint venture with Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd. in respect of the development of the Automotive High Technology Valley (AHTV) in Tanjung Malim.
• Advised Allgreen Properties Ltd., the real estate arm of Kuok Group, on its acquisition of 70% stake in Johor Bahru City Square Mall for approximately RM 850 million.
• Advised Tesla, Inc. on its market entry into Malaysia.
• Acted for Basis Bay in a joint venture with ST Telemedia Global Data Centres in respect of the development, construction and operation of data centre projects in Kuala Lumpur and Cyberjaya.
• Acted for Bintang Capital Partners, the private equity arm of AHAM Asset Management, in its investment into Involve Asia Group. The USD 10 million investment round was led by Bintang Capital Partners and supported by other co-investors.
• Advising a few private equity players on registration with the Securities Commission Malaysia as private equity management corporations.
